An autopsy showed that a man who died in Los Angeles County sheriff’s custody succumbed to blood poisoning caused by a severe throat infection, authorities said. David Clarence White, 31, of Northridge had been in custody since Aug. 1 on a rape charge. He died Sunday in the jail ward of County-USC Medical Center, Sheriff’s Sgt. Irene McReynolds said. No evidence of injury was found in the autopsy, officials added.
