Control of Rents and ‘Perverted’ Subsidies
Sam Hall Kaplan’s comments on Santa Monica (Aug. 10) sounded more like sour grapes than anything. Kaplan complains that “yuppies” receive rent subsidies under a “perverted rent control.”
Well, Sam, we all look forward to your exploration of all the other “perverted” subsidies--like those for mortgage interest and property taxes, as well as the post-Proposition 13 property owners who are subsidizing those who are paying 1975-valuation taxes.
