A husband and wife from North Hollywood were arrested on suspicion of robbing a 70-year-old Toluca Lake woman at her home Sunday morning after taping her mouth shut and fleeing with $100 in cash and some personal property, authorities said.
John Robertson, 30, and his wife, Zora Robertson, 25, were captured a short distance from the home after neighbors wrote down the couple’s auto license number and alerted police, Los Angeles Police Sgt. John Stilo said.
The victim, Mary Zerfass, heard her dogs barking about 9:30 a.m., went to investigate and found the couple rummaging through her bedroom, Stilo said. The couple held her down, taped her mouth and escaped, but police apprehended them about half an hour later, he said. Stilo said they apparently entered the house by climbing in through a bedroom window.
John Robertson is being held at North Hollywood Jail on $6,000 bail. Zora Robertson is being held at Van Nuys Jail, also on $6,000 bail.
