Heat Breaks 99-Year Record
Los Angeles continued to broil today, breaking a 99-year-old record when the mercury reached 97 degrees at 12:47. The old record, set in 1887, was 94. The 76-degree overnight low, recorded just after midnight today, broke the record of 73 set in 1972.
