L.A. Council Reported in Favor of Police Pay Raise

Share

A pay raise for police officers reportedly was approved behind closed doors by the Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday. David Baca, vice president of the Police Protective League, said the council approved a 5% increase effective in July, 1985, and another 5% increase effective last month.

Contract talks and pay raises had been on hold since July, 1984, when the old contract expired.

Council members reportedly could not resolve a dispute between the union and the city on arbitration of disciplinary actions, ordering both sides to resume talks.
