CANTON, Ohio — Glenn Allison clipped the seven pin off the 7-10 split on his final ball to edge top-seeded Bus Oswalt, 201-200, Wednesday night and win the $115,000 Professional Bowlers Assn. Kessler Seniors Championship.
The victory was worth $16,000 and ended a 22-year dry spell for Allison, a 56-year-old from Whittier, Calif., who won five PBA tournaments--the last one the 1964 Oxnard Open.
Oswalt, 50, from Muncie, Ind., led after all six rounds of the tournament. He could have beaten Allison with a strike in the 10th frame, but left an 8-10 split--his second of the match--and failed to convert the spare. He had to settle for runner-up money of $8,500.
