Local News in Brief : Rider on Stolen Cycle Slams Into Bus, Dies

Aman riding a stolen motorcycle was killed Wednesday night in Sepulveda when he ran a red light and slammed into a Southern California Rapid Transit District bus, police said.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:05 p.m. accident in the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Plummer Street, Los Angeles Police Officer Jack Blacklock said.

There were no injuries among the 25 passengers on the bus, which was on a route from Los Angeles to Panorama City and Northridge, police and an RTD spokesman said.

Witnesses told police that the motorcycle was northbound on Sepulveda at about 50 m.p.h. when it entered the intersection and skidded into the side of the bus, which was eastbound on Plummer.

The right rear tires of the bus ran over the man, who carried no identification, police said. The motorcycle was reported stolen on June 19, Blacklock said.
