Ramona
A 45-year-old Ramona man died early Saturday when his homemade experimental aircraft crashed as his wife watched.
John Edwards Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His wife, Alice, had been watching from the ground while he tested the light plane he had built.
Witnesses said that it appeared that a wing came off the small plane before it plummeted to the ground shortly before 8 a.m.
Sheriff’s deputies with the help of the department’s helicopter located the wreckage and Lynch’s body about an hour later.
