Local News in Brief : Van Hits Motor Home, Crashes; Driver Killed
A man driving a van on the Ventura Freeway in Studio City early Wednesday was killed when the vehicle rear-ended a motor home, rolled down a steep incline and burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP spokesman Mike Kerr said the man, whom authorities could not identify because of the burns, was driving on the transition road from the eastbound Ventura Freeway to the southbound Hollywood Freeway about 12:30 a.m.
Flames from the van ignited a small grass fire near the intersection of Kraft Avenue and Sarah Street, which firefighters quickly doused, Kerr said.
Four people in the motor home were treated for minor injuries and released from St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
