Federal Judge Bruce Thompson in Reno awarded $40,000 to cyclist Greg LeMond in a suit against a Swiss company that used an unauthorized picture of the 1986 Tour de France winner in an advertisement to promote the sale of bicycle clothing.
The judgment was against Assos A.G. of Switzerland, which advertised its clothing in magazines. LeMond, of Reno, won a similar suit against Bennotto USA, which was accused of using LeMond’s picture to promote bike supplies.
