‘ALIENS’ IDEOLOGY
Webber’s analysis of “Aliens” deserves a hyperblast of criticism for manufacturing symbolism where there is none. The creators of “Aliens” developed visually intriguing entities, not symbols of human infants deformed by atmospheric pollutants.
As a professional ufologist, I was particularly pleased to see extra-terrestrial bioforms that were other than the stereotypical humanoid beings coincidentally conversant with the English language.
Indeed, it is just a matter of time, albeit 10, 100, or 1,000 years, before we encounter ETs, and they will probably more resemble the cesspit creatures of “Aliens” than the homuncular humanoids of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”
