A 43-year-old man who had been missing since Aug. 16 was located by police Sunday when he checked into a hospital for treatment of a kidney condition, a police spokesman said.

Sgt. Milt Galbraith said Richard William MacDonald had arrived at the unidentified hospital early Sunday. Galbraith indicated Monday that MacDonald had not been questioned by investigators about his whereabouts since Aug. 16.

“He is in good condition,” Galbraith said. “There’s no problem, and there’s no evidence of foul play.”

MacDonald had last been seen leaving his home in Orange Aug. 16 and was believed to have headed for Laguna Beach to go snorkeling, police said. He was expected home later that day but he did not return.

Police had been searching for MacDonald since his disappearance and had no leads until he showed up at the hospital on Sunday, Galbraith said.

In Tustin, police were continuing their search Monday for another missing person. Louis Chico Rosa, 59, a victim of Alzheimer’s disease, was last seen when he wandered from his home on Aug. 18.
