Chuck Muncie Cited in Spat With Ex-Wife

Former San Diego Charger running back Chuck Muncie was given a misdemeanor citation after police officers found him fighting with his ex-wife outside a San Diego hotel Tuesday, officials said.

Police arrived in the 800 block of Santa Clara Place at 7:45 a.m. to find Muncie and former wife, Robin, in an altercation apparently over the custody of their child, said police spokesman Rick Carlson. Muncie, 33, was cited for battery but was not detained.

Muncie had been a Charger running back for four years before he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 1985 after a year’s suspension from the San Diego team because of his involvement with cocaine. Muncie no longer plays professional football.
