5 Hurt as TV Show Blast Fells Restaurant Wall
Associated Press
CHICAGO — An explosion set off by a television crew went awry and toppled a wall onto customers in a crowded restaurant, injuring five people, authorities said.
The explosion occurred during filming Friday of an episode of “Crime Story” on the sixth floor of an apartment building that also houses the Medici on Surf restaurant, police said.
An explosive charge that had been set in the elevator shaft of the building was “overcharged,” fire officials said, and the blast collapsed a brick wall that divided the restaurant from the elevator shaft.
