A forest fire that officials believe was started deliberately has devastated one-third of the 5,000-acre Tablas de Daimiel national park in central Spain, a staging post for migratory birds.

Park Director Jesus Casas said that the fire, which began on Friday night, was still burning Sunday, although firefighting planes and ground crews had confined it to one area.
