Investigators from the Los Angeles County Fire Department Sunday sifted through the ashes of a fire that caused $150,000 worth of damage to a Canoga Park condominium complex late Saturday night.

Although many residents of the complex were home at the time of the fire, no one was injured. Firefighters credit smoke detectors for warning residents of the danger.

The fire started about 11 p.m. Saturday in the attic of one unit in the eight-unit complex at 7130 Woodlake Ave., fire officials said. The blaze quickly spread along the roof.

It took nine companies about 30 minutes to put out the flames.

Three of the homes are uninhabitable, firefighters said, and five other units sustained severe smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire was not determined.
