Montebello : New Life for Hotel Venture
The City Council has given a development group a second opportunity to place a major hotel next to the Montebello Municipal Golf Course. Five private investors, joined in the development venture under the name Hi Kripton, have about 60 days to complete a lease agreement that calls for construction of a 135-room, high-quality business hotel.
Similar lease negotiations with the city broke down last fall when the developers objected to a clause that gives hotel food service rights to the Quiet Cannon restaurant, which is already on the site. City Administrator Joseph Goeden said this week that the developers have now found a hotel franchise that is willing to operate the facility without maintaining its own restaurant.
Members of the development group are Ed Babayan, Sako Baghdassdarian, Michael Minasian, Al J. Tudor and George Tumanjan.
