A New Orleans man who faced up to 27 1/2 years in prison and $55,000 in fines has been placed on probation and fined just $250 in New Orleans for his part in the Tulane basketball point-shaving scandal.
Orleans Criminal District Court Judge Patrick Quinlan handed Craig Bourgeois a suspended six-month sentence and one year of non-reporting probation on a reduced charge of misdemeanor gambling.
Former Tulane star center John (Hot Rod) Williams was acquitted in June on bribery charges and has since been signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
