RELIABLE RAMONES

There are four seasons, the moon affects the tide, caterpillars turn into butterflies . . . and the Ramones play the Palladium after every new album. There is a difference between tradition and stagnation, however, and the Ramones (entering their 10th year of “gabba gabba hey”) once again reaffirmed Saturday that it’s still one of the loudest, funniest and thrashiest gangs of four ever to graduate Rock ‘n’ Roll High School. Critical types might complain that the only thing that changes in a Ramones show is the set list, but what can you expect from a quartet that’s been singing about pinheads and cretins for a decade? If you want art, listen to the albums. The Ramones plays Fenders on Friday, the Palace on Sunday and Club Metro next Monday..

(Five police officers suffered cuts and bruises when members of the crowd leaving the Ramones concert began pelting them with rocks and bottles, Los Angeles police said. The officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries and five concertgoers were booked into the Hollywood Division jail on various charges.)
