A methodical band of tire-slashing vandals struck at five Ukiah car dealerships, Mendocino County sheriff’s deputies said. A total of 424 tires on new cars were slashed and dozens of paint jobs were ruined with three distinct implements--a large knife, an ice pick and a screwdriver, officers said. Damage was estimated at $155,000.
