Defense contractors are still overcharging the Pentagon by millions of dollars a year despite stepped-up auditing, the General Accounting Office and Pentagon auditors said. Waste arises because contractors are not providing enough information to the Defense Department, as required by the Truth-in-Negotiations Act, in cases where non-competitive contracts are awarded, the auditors told a House subcommittee.
