One night after Joe Cowley pitched a no-hitter for the Chicago White Sox, Mike Trujillo allowed only one hit--a two-out, line-drive single in the first inning by Jamie Quirk--as the Seattle Mariners beat the Kansas City Royals, 3-0, Saturday night.

Trujillo (3-0) mixed an assortment of breaking pitches and had near-perfect control, walking one and striking out three. He retired 15 consecutive batters before an error by first baseman Alvin Davis in the sixth inning broke the string. He retired 25 of the last 27 batters he faced.

A 26-year-old right-hander, Trujillo was obtained by the Mariners Aug. 22 from Boston and has been used mostly as a reliever. This was only his second complete game in the major leagues.
