Metzenbaum’s Wife Hurt in Fall From Bike

WASHINGTON —
Shirley Metzenbaum, wife of Sen. Howard M. Metzenbaum (D-Ohio) was hospitalized in serious condition today after she was knocked unconscious in a bicycle accident, officials said.
A U.S. Park Police spokesman said the accident occurred Sunday morning as the Metzenbaums were riding on a bike path next to the George Washington Parkway. Mrs. Metzenbaum, 63, apparently lost control of her bicycle and was thrown to the ground, he said.
