Orange : Motorcyclist Killed on Costa Mesa Freeway
A motorcyclist was killed on the Costa Mesa Freeway in Orange after he struck a car, fell off his bike and was run over by a truck, the CHP said Monday.
The victim was identified by the coroner’s office as Russell Lemaster, 20, of Fountain Valley. He was riding northbound in the fast lane at the time of the accident, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The car in front of the cyclist braked, the CHP said, apparently causing Lemaster to lose control, collide with the auto’s rear bumper and fall off the bike. He was then run over by a truck tractor, the CHP spokesman said.
The truck’s driver, William F. Ball, 30, of Upland and David G. Jones, 35, of San Clemente, who was driving the car, were not injured.
No citations were issued.
