Mayor, Council Candidate Forum Today in Orange
A public forum featuring candidates running for mayor and City Council in the city of Orange will be held today at 7 p.m. in the public library.
The candidates’ forum, sponsored by the Old Towne Preservation Assn., will cover such topics as the of east Orange, school closure and expansions, traffic and parking, and the preservation of Old Towne, a one-square-mile area in the city’s downtown district.
All 14 candidates are expected to attend, association president Dale Rahn said.
“The forum is a two-way street. It will let us know where they stand on issues. And it will clue them in to what our leanings are,” Rahn said.
The association, a nonprofit group of about 300 residents, was formed in February to protect more than 1,200 pre-1940 homes in downtown Orange.
The library is located at 101 N. Center St.
