A fire badly damaged a Northridge home early Wednesday but the occupants escaped injury, Los Angeles city fire officials said.
Four engine companies were sent to the single-family home in the 8400 block of north Amestoy Avenue when the fire broke out about 3:30 a.m., fire Capt. Dennis Strong said. It took about 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze, he said.
Strong said the home was severely damaged but did not estimate the dollar amount of damages. The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
