La Mesa
A 27-year-old man who was shot by a La Mesa police officer while the man was holding a knife to the throat of a woman died Wednesday night at Sharp Memorial Hospital, the coroner’s office reported.
Timothy L. Robinson was shot in the neck Tuesday after Police Officer James Green saw him threatening the woman in the back seat of a car parked in the 8100 block of Commercial Street.
The woman, a co-worker of Robinson’s at a La Mesa fast-food restaurant, suffered knife wounds and said Robinson had raped her.
Robinson was paroled from prison Aug. 28 after serving time on a rape-related conviction after his arrest by La Mesa police in March, 1983.
He also was the suspect in the killings of his former wife and another woman whose remains were found in rural El Cajon while he was in Vacaville State Prison Hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
