14 Postal Workers Face Drug Charges

Fourteen post office employees have been indicted on charges of selling heroin, cocaine and other drugs at U.S. Postal Service facilities, federal authorities said Thursday.

U.S. Atty. J. Alan Johnson said post office employees tipped U.S. postal inspectors to the drug sales. An investigation was started last October, and employees sold drugs to undercover agents, he said.

The employees are accused of selling heroin, cocaine, marijuana, LSD, phendimetrazine and Percodan at several major mail distribution centers in the Pittsburgh area, according to grand jury indictments.

“The drugs, based on what we know, were not sent through the mail,” Johnson said.
