Detectives were attempting to solve the shooting death of an unidentified young man whose body was found by a transient near the Los Angeles Board of Education headquarters in the 300 block of North Hill Street. Lt. Bill Hall described the victim as a poorly dressed man, possibly of Latino descent, about 25 years old. The killing evidently occurred shortly before his body was discovered, Hall said.
