Bulls Decide Not to Make the Trade With Lakers for Jawann Oldham . . .

Share

Laker General Manager Jerry West said Thursday that the Chicago Bulls have decided not to trade 7-foot center Jawann Oldham to the Lakers.

“It’s dead,” West said. “We had a deal with them, but they called and said it’s off. I don’t know what caused it. Maybe it was bad timing or something else. So, we’ve got to get back on the phone again and try to find another (big man).”

On Wednesday, Oldham had not waived his no-trade clause, which was supposedly all that was holding up the trade. According to Fred Slaughter, Oldham’s agent, Oldham met with Bulls Vice President Jerry Krause Thursday morning to waive the no-trade provision in exchange for compensation and was told that plans had changed.
