Edwards Helps UCI Win in Soccer, 3-1

Don Edwards scored a goal and assisted on another as UC Irvine won its Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. soccer opener Sunday, a 3-1 decision over San Jose State at Irvine.
Scott Chase scored early in the first half for San Jose State (2-2, 4-4-3) before UCI scored three straight goals. Freshman Keith Golden tied the score with a head shot and Edwards, a senior, scored on a 30-yarder to give UCI (1-0, 4-7) a 2-1 lead at halftime.
