Ex-Titleholder Dokes Arrested; Cocaine Seized
Former World Boxing Assn. heavyweight champion Michael Dokes was arrested on drug charges in Las Vegas Monday.
Dokes, who held the WBA heavyweight crown for parts of 1982 and 1983, was arrested after officers, armed with search warrants, entered the fighter’s home and seized 11 ounces of cocaine, found behind a false wall at the residence, and $6,500 in cash.
Dokes also was charged with resisting arrest.
In New York, meanwhile, Hector (Macho) Camacho, the World Boxing Council lightweight champion, was issued five summonses for driving unsafely and without a license.
The 24-year-old Camacho was speeding and weaving in and out lanes when he was pulled over by police Monday afternoon. He was issued summonses for reckless driving, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving without a license, and unsafe lane changing.
