Watergate sleuth Bob Woodward, now the Washington Post’s acting managing editor of investigating reporting, and Post reporter Christian Williams are big “Hill Street Blues” fans--and now, between hot news tips and snooping around, they’re writing a script for it.

Sneak plot preview of the episode, probably to air in February: Furillo and Goldblume’s friendship gets dicey when Goldblume refuses to enforce new controversial drug laws, tough-guy Buntz “discovers” Davenport is cheating on Furillo, Belker encounters a purse-snatching dog, LaRue and Washington turn the station upside down, searching for a mammoth cockroach.

Executive producer Jeff Lewis told us the duo pitched ideas over the phone and he has “high hopes” for them as contributors. Another writer under contract: Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet.
