The Seattle Mariners say they’re going to keep ticket prices the same for the 1987 season as they were for the 1986 campaign.

“Our first thought was to find a way to reward our most faithful fans, those fans who support us through the purchase of season tickets,” said Mariners’ President Chuck Armstrong.

“Overall, the price freeze keeps Mariner baseball among the best entertainment buys for personal and business use.”

Ticket prices for the Mariners remain at $9 for a box seat, $8 for a reserved seat, $6 for a view level bench seat, and $4.50 and $2.50 for a general admission ticket.

The Mariners sold 4,350 season tickets this season and drew 1,028,223 fans in the Kingdome. Their home attendance was the lowest in the American League.

Mariners’ owner George Argyros negotiated an escape clause in his lease with King County, owner and operator of the Kingdome, last year. That allows him to move his franchise if the Mariners don’t draw a total of 2.8 million fans at home during the 1986 and 1987 seasons.
