Palmer Rushes for 349 Yards

PHILADELPHIA —
Senior Paul Palmer rushed for 349 yards, 8 shy of the NCAA record, and scored 3 touchdowns Saturday to help Temple hand East Carolina its 15th straight loss, 45-28.
The NCAA single-game rushing record is 357 yards, set by Rueben Mayes of Washington State in 1984.
Palmer, who carried 43 times, scored on runs of 78, 20 and 2 yards.
Temple (4-2) also scored on touchdown passes of 51 and 25 yards from Lee Saltz to Keith Gloster, a 20-yard run by Todd McNair and a 39-yard field goal by Bill Wright.
