A shooting involving several juveniles, one of whom was injured, occurred inside the South Coast Plaza shopping mall about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, police reported.

By late Sunday night, details of the shooting were still sketchy, officers said. A police official said the juvenile who was shot was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and was in good condition late Sunday. The wounded youth was not identified.

Police said they could not immediately disclose how many juveniles were involved in the shooting.

“Several juveniles are in custody, but we don’t know how many will be charged,” said a police officer who declined to be named. “The investigation is still going on.”

The shooting took place on the upper level of the shopping plaza, but the exact location was not immediately available, officers said.
