The body of a young man was discovered at the bottom of a steep bank off the side of California 76 near Pala, sheriff’s deputies reported.

The unidentified man was described by coroner’s deputies as 5 feet 9 inches tall, 185 pounds, Latino, between 25 and 35 years old, with long, black hair. The body was discovered about a half-mile east of the La Jolla Indian Campground, said Sgt. Charles Curtis of the Sheriff’s Department.

Although the cause of death has not been determined, the man, who was found with his hands tied behind his back, appeared to have suffered several blows to the head, Curtis said. Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating.
