The prosecution rested Wednesday in the manslaughter trial of an El Cajon board and care facility manager who is accused of turning off the fire alarm system before a fire killed three residents.

The defense phase of the trial of Nayoma Jeannette Raleigh, 41, is to begin today.

Raleigh managed the Linda Turman Guest home for the mentally disabled at 1280 Clarendon St. before the Feb. 6 fire in which Mark Buis, 33, Patty Melton, 33, and Pietra Corrao, 47, died.

Most of the testimony in the week-old trial has centered on technical detail concerning the alarm system, which investigators said had been shut off. Others witnesses have testified that the alarm system sometimes malfunctioned.
