Ellard Attends Rams’ Practice but Only as a Spectator

Share

Henry Ellard returned to Rams Park in Anaheim Wednesday but only to watch, not practice.

“I just wanted to show that I still feel like I’m part of the team,” said Ellard, the wide receiver who has missed the first six games of the 1986 season because of a contract dispute. “I just wanted to see how things were going.”

Ellard was not granted his wish to be traded to the Indianapolis Colts before Tuesday’s NFL trading deadline, so he has little choice but to sign with the Rams or sit out the season.

“I have no other alternatives,” he said. “We’ll definitely try to work things out.”

Ellard said he planned to become more involved in the negotiating process between Ellard’s agent, Mike Blatt, and the Rams’ chief negotiator, Vice President John Shaw.

Ellard plans to meet with Shaw today at the Rams’ Los Angeles offices.
