Happy Owners Go Ape Over Stolen Pet’s Homecoming

--Prissy just isn’t herself these days. For breakfast, she takes a pill and a little coffee. But if you were ape-naped for three days, how would you feel? The Prissy in this case is a one-armed orangutan who was abducted outside her home and sold twice. But Prissy’s owners, Buck and Betty Robinson of Oklahoma City, Okla., are delighted that she’s returned home--despite the fact that she doesn’t seem to be in lively spirits. “We are very happy, and we’re all back together again,” said Buck, 76, a former rodeo clown and bullfighter. Prissy’s homecoming came after the last person who bought her saw the Robinsons’ newspaper ad and phoned them. Police Lt. Ted Mapes said a suspect in the apenaping has been apprehended. Betty, 57, says of her red-faced primate who had her right arm bitten off by a dog: “I won’t take a million dollars for her.”

--Abbie Hoffman, the firebrand of the 1960s, was usually never at a loss for words. Apparently, that hasn’t changed over the years. Hoffman, who turns 50 next month, contends in an interview with the Pittsburgh Press that today’s youth “lack the courage” to defend their beliefs. “It’s strange to be more radical than the next generation,” says Hoffman, who has traveled to college campuses condemning South African policy of apartheid and President Reagan’s support of the contras in Nicaragua. “My ultimate feeling is that (students) simply lack the courage. There isn’t a cadre willing to risk being kicked out of school, risk being ostracized, risk being killed. Even the best of them hedge their bets. They want careers. I have yet to find utopian visionaries.”

--Tanya Tucker’s songs may not be wildly red-hot but her chicken chili probably is. She says it “cleans your teeth, curls your hair and makes you feel like a millionaire.” Tucker and 36 other entertainers, have cooked up the new “Cooking With Country Music Stars,” a compilation of their favorite recipes--more than 200--together with some homespun tales about their favorite food. Others who offer their kitchen delights are Charlie Daniels, Lee Greenwood, Tom T. Hall, Emmylou Harris, the Judds, Barbara Mandrell, Reba McEntire, Ronnie Milsap, the Oak Ridge Boys, Dolly Parton, Minnie Pearl and Kenny Rogers.
