An elderly couple was found dead in their ransacked homenear Whittier on Monday, apparently the victims of burglarswho ransacked their home, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The bodies of 85-year-old Edwin Marriott and his wife, Mary, 72, were found at 5 p.m. by a relative who had been summoned by neighbors.
Heard Glass Breaking
One neighbor of the slain couple said the killings could have occurred Thursday, when he heard glass breaking at the home.
Another neighbor said he went to the house in the 10500 block of Nashville Avenue on Monday to check on the Marriotts, and called the couple’s son-in-law after finding a rear door open.
Deputies said the house had been ransacked and burglary was apparently the motive for the killings.
Investigators would not discuss how the couple had been killed.
