The International Motor Sports Assn. has lifted the 60-day suspension given to driver Willy T. Ribbs earlier this month, freeing him to compete in Sunday’s season finale at Daytona International Speedway.

Ribbs was suspended for “overly aggressive driving” after he was involved in a bumping incident with Scott Pruett in a race for GTO class cars in the Columbus (Ohio) Grand Prix on Oct. 5. Ribbs won the race.

Pruett, who leads the GTO point standings by 13 points entering Sunday’s Eastern Airlines season finale, was later involved in another scrape with Jack Baldwin. Pruett and Baldwin were fined $1,500 and placed on indefinite probation for the incident, which knocked Baldwin out of the race.

Ribbs and Pruett were involved in another incident in the opening race of the season at the Miami Grand Prix. Pruett was leading the GTO race on the final lap when Ribbs slammed into Pruett’s car in the next to last turn, costing Pruett a victory.
