Redondo Beach Woman of the Year is Katie Stroot, a volunteer at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance. Stroot is founder of “Cheers for Children,” an organization that gives parties for terminally ill and handicapped youngsters.

Ann Booth of Rancho Palos Verdes will receive the Community Treasure award from Community Helpline, a South Bay crisis and information service. Booth has served the nonprofit organization for 15 years, 7 as president, and sits on the board of directors. She has also been involved with fund-raising concerts and drug-prevention programs for area schools.

The Peninsula chapter of the National Charity League recently installed Ibbie Stroh of Rolling Hills as president. The mother-daughter organization raises funds for its philanthropies through the Ticktocker Thrift Shop in San Pedro.

Terry O’Keefe of Rolling Hills Estates has been selected chairwoman of Little Company of Mary Hospital’s annual auction, Sellabration ’86. Also serving on the fund-raiser committee will be William C. Applegate of Torrance, who was selected Men’s Committee chairman.

Ron Kupferstein has been named executive director of Hawthorne Hospital. A health care administrator for 15 years, he comes to the hospital from Westworld Community Health Care, in Orange County, where he served as senior vice president.

Rosanne Huber, a resident of Wilmington, has been named director of nursing services at Hawthorne. Huber, a registered nurse, was assistant director of nursing at the hospital. Huber has been with Hawthorne for more than a year.

Raymond L. Eden, a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, has been appointed associate dean for administration of the UCLA School of Medicine. Eden’s responsibilities will include financial planning, personnel, space allocation and coordinating the computer systems.

El Segundo Employers Assn. has appointed David C. Rowley to the board of directors. Rowley completes the term of Herbert Pagel, who resigned to take a position with Garrett Corp.

Centinela Business and Professional Women’s Organization will honor Anita Harris, city clerk of Inglewood, at its Woman of Achievement dinner on Monday at the Days Inn in Inglewood. Jane Rasco has been promoted to principal recreation supervisor, the top post in the Pacific region of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department. Rasco, a resident of Manhattan Beach, will supervise more than 50 recreation centers in the Harbor, South, West and Shoreline districts on the Westside.
