Dana Point

Autopsy Completed: Preliminary results of an autopsy Wednesday showed that Gregory Donelle Smith, 25, a classical musician, drowned, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said. Lt. Richard J. Olson said the results are pending further toxicological tests. Smith’s body was found floating in the ocean south of Dana Point Harbor on Tuesday afternoon by sailors on a private sportfishing boat, Sheriff’s Lt. Russ Elsner said. He said the body of Smith, who had been missing since Oct. 10, was fully clothed. He was last seen surf-fishing off South Laguna. Smith was the principal cellist with the UC Irvine chamber and symphony orchestras as he worked toward a master’s degree in music at the university.
