Quarterback Joe Montana of the San Francisco 49ers, sidelined since the second week of the season with a back injury, has been told to go ahead with the next step in his rehabilitation program.
Montana met Wednesday with Dr. Arthur White, the San Francisco surgeon who operated on him Sept. 15. White reportedly told Montana to “go to the football mode.”
Montana has been doing little more than throwing on the sidelines the last two weeks at the team’s training facility.
