Responding to a new poll that gave her a high popularity rating, San Francisco Mayor Dianne Feinstein said she wants to run for governor. “I think the most logical next step for me is to look at the governor’s race,” she said, after being told of the San Francisco Chronicle poll results. “I would be a little different kind of governor.” The newspaper found that 68% of those interviewed gave Feinstein an excellent or good rating for overall job performance. Twenty-two percent rated her as a fair mayor. Eight percent gave her poor or very poor marks. Two percent had no opinion. The survey of San Franciscans was conducted Oct. 10-14 by pollster Mervin Field and has a projected margin of error of plus or minus 4%.
