Nance, Davis Lead Phoenix to 126-125 Victory Over Lakers

Forward Larry Nance scored 30 points, and guard Walter Davis added 24 to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 126-125 victory over the Lakers in an NBA exhibition game Friday night.

Davis’ basket on a goal-tending call with 11 seconds left provided the Suns with their fifth win in six exhibition games. Laker guard Michael Cooper missed a one-hand, off-balance 10-footer at the buzzer.

Rookie guard Andre Turner had given the Lakers their last lead at 125-124 with a 17-foot jumper.

Nance scored 10 points in the first quarter and 11 in the third. The Suns also got 16 points from guard Jay Humphries.

Forward A.C. Green led the Lakers with 24 points. Cooper added 18, including a pair of three-point shots, while forward James Worthy scored 17.

Los Angeles is 4-2 in the exhibition season.
