Kentucky forward Winston Bennett will miss the entire basketball season after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his right knee Saturday, the school announced.
Bennett, a 6-foot 7-inch senior who was the team’s second-leading scorer last season with an average of 12.7 points a game and who also averaged 7 rebounds, was expected to be the Wildcats’ team leader.
The two-year starter from Louisville, who was injured during practice Wednesday, will return for the 1987-88 season, Kentucky Coach Eddie Sutton said.
