Florida State, West Virginia to Play in Jacksonville
Florida State’s Seminoles will play West Virginia in Jacksonville’s Gator Bowl on Sept. 27, 1992.
It will be the Tallahassee team’s first regular-season appearance in Jacksonville since they defeated Houston, 40-20, in 1968.
FSU and West Virginia have agreed to play five games in 1990s, said Hootie Ingram, FSU athletic director. The teams will meet in Tallahassee in 1990 and 1994 and in Morgantown, W.Va., in 1993. Jacksonville will be considered a neutral site in 1992.
FSU also has signed to play Louisville in Tallahassee next fall, replacing South Carolina on the schedule, said Ingram. The Seminoles also have been negotiating with Georgia Southern to fill an open date on the schedule.
