Anaheim : Autopsy Fails to Show Cause of Man’s Death

Share

An autopsy Monday failed to reveal the cause of the death of a man whose body was found in a motel room, but police said it appeared that the man had been beaten.

Police Lt. Bill Wright identified the victim as Geremiah Titus Moultry, 56, who was found dead Sunday morning in his room at the Sixpence Inn.

Wright said the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Further toxicological tests will be conducted to determine the cause of Moultry’s death.

Wright said Moultry’s friends and relatives told homicide detectives that Moultry worked at John Wayne Airport. Moultry was not a county employee at the county-operated airport, and police have not determined who may have been the man’s employer.

Wright said Moultry did have a steady job but stayed in various motels. Little else was known about him, Wright said.

A maid at the motel in the 2020 block of East Via Burton reportedly discovered Moultry’s body about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to motel manager Charles Workman. He said Moultry had been staying at the Sixpence for about two weeks “and was very quiet.”
